CHANGES THAT HELP

TEC is an organization helping today to achieve an even greater tomorrow with results and continual improvement that define truly sustainable change.  As globalization decreases the size of the planet in terms of contact, communication, and interaction, it's easy to see how the lives of people, animals, plants, and ecosystems everywhere are closely intertwined.

The good news is the power created from choices at the individual level and the impact created.

For example: we are seeing firsthand a paradigm shift from single use  paper or plastic bags to reusable bags.

As consumer awareness of the fragility of our planet increases, people are beginning to look at more environmentally beneficial options for all different types of products. Shopping bags in the U.S. are undergoing a transition.  Consumers switched from paper bags to plastic bags as they were causing deforestation. Very soon, the popularity of plastic bags eclipsed paper bags.  However, with hundreds of billions of plastic bags used each year, the amount of plastic and the effect generated is enormous.

Consumers are currently only recycling approximately 12 percent of the paper bags and only about 2 percent of the plastic bags.  TEC is not against single use bags, but the over comsumtion of the bags.  The answer is a bag that is reusable over a long period of time.  

A durable, lightweight, reusable bag can help change an old habit of using store supplied single use shopping bags and consumers carry reusable bags with every store visit.
